My ideal home and workplace are uncluttered spaces with lots of empty and clean surfaces. For me, even shelves with memorabilia or glass fronted cabinets with pieces of china and Swarovski crystal are a big NO in my house. Some people call me neurotic (and a quick test at Neuroses.org confirms that I’m “definitely neurotic”), especially when I am at the office cleaning up someone else’s desk because I could no longer stand to look at the clutter. Other people envy me because my house is always tidy and it looks like (!) I got myself organized pretty well (or do I just make this up?).
You don’t have to become obsessed with clean surfaces, but just learn to love the uncluttered look and catch and kill clutter in and around the house. You will find that by decluttering your house, you also clear your mind. You will find not only more space to move in, more air to breathe in, but also a sense of balance and higher energy levels.

The summer almost arrives. Are you done yet with your spring cleaning? Here are a few motivating reasons to start clearing the clutter in your house:
Let’s declare a Declutter Week!
Tomorrow we will learn the theory of decluttering and take time to set some rules. Each day after that we will clear one area in your house together, starting with counters and desks, then closets, and the computer, the car, and eventually your diary and your mind.

I love de-cluttering. I so agree that it makes you will more at peace not looking at stuff. Of course, there are a few places that I need to work on this month. My closet is first on the list.

The feelings of liberation as I have gone around getting rid of old t-shirts, presents given to me and never used and plastic containers with no lids has been great. Thanks for the advice.
